One of my favorite things to do at the beginning of a new year is to come up with my project list for the year. Although sometimes plans change and projects get shifted around, this is my opportunity to start to plan what big ideas I want to work on in addition to my regular sessions. I've got some super exciting projects in the works for this year. Make sure you keep reading to learn about all the ways you'll be able to work with me in 2023.

2022 pet of the year contest

This year's Pet of the Year Contest just kicked off and runs through January 31st. Prizes are available for both winners and voters, so even if your pet isn't in the running, make sure you head on over and vote for a chance to win a pet portrait session with me.

emerge sessions

Last year I participated in a round of 12 pet photography challenges through Unleashed Education called Embark. After successfully completing all 12 challenges, I signed up for the next level, Emerge! This will be another series of 12 challenges, starting on March 1st.

I'm looking for a handful of adventurous pups, cats, and/or horses to help me complete each of the themed challenges. More details will be coming soon with information on the requirements for each of the challenges.

Emerge Sessions will be $215, and will include a complimentary 5x7 print and the matching digital file of the image I select for the challenge. You can also purchase additional artwork packages that are only available to Emerge Session participants.

book project

It's been more than 2 years since I completed my Tails of Sacramento coffee table book, and I'm ready for a new book project! I'm still working out the details of the new book, but it will most likely be in a similar format as my Tails book. I haven't 100% settled on a theme yet, but if you're interested in getting your pet into the book if they meet the requirements I end up setting, definitely shoot me an email to get on the waiting list.

ARTISAN Sessions

Artisan Sessions will be back on the books this year. These sessions are typically short 10-15 minute sessions that give you a taste of what it's like to work with me at a location that isn't available to my clients year-round. When you book an artisan session, you have your pick of several digital file packages, as well as the option to purchase printed artwork. Last year I did lupine and Christmas tree farm artisan sessions.

While lupine sessions may not happen this year (the lupine bloom and location are highly dependent on how much rain we get during the winter, which we're currently getting a lot of), Christmas tree farm sessions will definitely be happening in mid- to late October (I'll be doing them a little earlier this year to get ahead of the holiday rush).

Signature pet portrait sessions

My Signature Pet Portrait Sessions will be offered this year with some changes that I made toward the end of last year. Please keep in mind that I only offer sessions on Tuesday and Friday evenings approximately 1-1.5 hours before sunset. I also offer one Sunday session per month at an additional cost.

Sessions are $215 and include:

  • an in-person consultation to learn about your pets and plan your session,
  • a photo session for up to two pets from the same household, outdoors on location in the greater Sacramento through Tahoe region,
  • a sneak peek preview image on social media,
  • an ordering appointment in the comfort of your home or online to select your favorite images,
  • plus a complimentary 5in x 7in gift print of your choice

Additional printed artwork and digital files (not included in your session) are available to purchase at your ordering appointment.
