This week's theme was all about light - the heart of photography. For those of you who have been following along on my journey, you know how much I love natural light. So much so, in fact, that I specialize in natural light photography. This doesn't mean that I have anything against studio photography. I actually admire quite a few photographers who do most of their work in studio. It also doesn't mean that I don't understand studio lighting. On the contrary, I have studio lights and use them on special projects. However, living in such a beautiful place, with such mild weather, allows me access to shoot outdoors almost the entire year, and I just couldn't pass this up.

Going into this week, I considered giving you guys a taste of studio work, switching up my normal light source. In fact, this would have been a perfect week to do it since we're getting a seldom-seen bout of stormy weather. But we're also nearing the end of the year, and I've been feeling especially reflective this week. So instead of giving you something entirely new, I decided to go back through my photos from this year to show you some of my favorites, especially those with incredible natural light. I know, I know, I'm supposed to do something new instead of digging photos out of my archive, but humor me just this once. I promise you won't regret getting to see these beauties!

If you're interested in scheduling your own natural light pet portrait session, make sure you fill out the contact form on my website. And don't worry about the weather this time of year - the rain never lasts long, and we can definitely work around it. We can even incorporate it into our session if you'd like, or take a day trip up to Tahoe to shoot in the snow!

Follow the rest of the Project 52 group blog circle to see their how they used "light" in their photographs this week. Next up is Tracy Allard of Penny Whistle Photography, fetching portraits in Coppell and surrounding communities in the Dallas - Fort Worth metroplex. Keep following the links at the end of each blog post until you make it back here to see all of this week's photos!
