Last month, I had the opportunity to photograph Leonidas (Leo) and Malcolm for my Tails of Sacramento book, and we had a blast! Their pawrents booked the extended session so that we could ensure plenty of time for family photographs (hello Christmas cards). Leo loves the water so we decided on a spot along the American River. This was a new location for me so we decided to make an adventure out of it. We walked down toward the river from the Sutter's Landing Park entrance. This entrance connects with the American River Parkway, and provides access to the river from a multitude of small trails, as well as a bike trail that stretches the length of the parkway.

We took advantage of the many small trails to capture some posed photos of each of the boys.

Then we struck out on some of the other trails to capture some action shots and family photos. Leo couldn't help but show off his goofy side as he raced ahead of his brother and pawrents.

Finally, we headed down to the river. We saved this for the end of the session so that we wouldn't have wet pups the entire time. The timing was perfect as the last of the sun was reflecting off the river. The fall colors were just beginning to start their show in Sacramento, and the yellow trees complemented the golden light perfectly. Leo got to have fun running up and down the beach, as well as playing in the water.
All in all, it was a super fun session, and I was so glad Hayley and Kyle were more than happy to take their pups along on the adventure with me!
