Have you ever tried to photograph your own dog, and wondered why you just can't seem to get him to look at the camera? He's always looking just above it, or to the side. What's the trick, you ask. This week I'm here to let you in on a little secret - it's all about the treats. (Full disclosure - this won't always work on dogs who are picky or aren't food-motivated. It can also occasionally fail when the dog is stressed or too distracted by other things in the environment. However, having the right treats can make a world of difference most of the time.)
I recently finished up one of my Tails of Sacramento sessions with Bodega, a gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback, at Southside Park. Bodega was a little nervous at first, but once he realized his mama had brought along some ultra tasty chicken nuggets, he was all in for the session. We captured some incredible images, and his engagement (and begging for chicken nuggets) was spot on.
What would your pup do for some tasty treats? I'm currently booking out into late October and November - make sure you book now to get your pet portraits done before the holidays! And in case you didn't see it on my Instagram - book your session in October or November and I will donate $150 directly to Resilient Dog Rescue!
Don't forget to continue following the blog circle to see everyone else's treats this week. Up next is Angela Schneider of Noses & Toes Pet Photography in Spokane, WA.
